Tess Holliday Instagram trolls can have several seats

Tess Holliday is a gorgeous, proud plus-size model and mama and definitely a favorite Instagram follow. She’s consistently real and inspiring and we love her for it. In her most recent post, she shares some of the endless criticism she receives about her body, because how dare she embrace herself with positivity?

Who are the people who sign online just to shame women about what they look like? It takes a special kind of miserable to be bold enough to do such a thing. Luckily for all of us, Tess Holliday simply ain’t having it.

“I get comments like this on the daily: ‘Ew no one wants to see that’ and ‘Have respect for yourself and children and put clothes on’ and ‘You look classier covered up’ and ‘Keep this in the bedroom and don’t share online,’” she writes. “Wait… what? So because I’m a mom, I have to hide my body? Y’all know how babies are made right?”

Seriously though! Also is everyone who comments this way, like, 85 years old?

Holliday then shared screenshots of the hate she receives from some of these trolls when she shares sexy photos of herself.

“You can still be beautiful covered up.” OMG, get lost.

“All of a sudden I have kids and my sexuality is stripped from me,” she writes. “At a time when most moms desperately need to feel good about themselves?! Nah, I don’t think so.”

One commenter even told her that her naked body shouldn’t be shared because it’s “for just your husband.” You can’t make this shit up.

Major brownie points to Mr. Holliday for chiming in here, btw. Why is this so deeply upsetting to people who choose to follow her?

“I’ve said this before and talk about it in depth in my book,” she writes. “Fat women deserve to feel sexy, moms deserve to feel desired and wanted, and if we want to dress ‘slutty’ then y’all can deal with it or keep scrolling.”

PREACH.

“I am a fan now seeing you dressed covered up more.” Oh, please. I’m sure Ms. Holliday is thrilled to gain one more singular fan now that she occasionally dresses in a style that suits just this one person.

The way we view women and sexuality as a whole is long overdue for an overhaul. Would these trolls feel inclined to mention “covering up” and “classy” if these were photos of a stereotypically thin model? Probably not. It’s complete and utter bullshit, and it deserves to be addressed.

“I’m not ashamed of my sexuality & my boys understand now at a young age that their mom is a strong, resilient woman that lives life by my rules,” Holliday writes. “My husband is proud of who I am and doesn’t try to silence me because that’s what a good partner does. Now let me go to bed before I get madder.”
