Comedian creates “fake animal facts” signs and hangs them at the Los Angeles Zoo

From the creative mind behind last fall’s amazing fake Halloween costume signs comes something just as hilarious — fake animal facts. Comedian and blogger Jeff Wysaski decided the Los Angeles Zoo needed a little something extra. And boy, did he leave the place better (well, at least funnier) than he found it.

Wysaski, who shares his humor under the handle Obvious Plant, tells Scary Mommy, “I had been looking for a fun thing to do at the zoo for awhile, and fake animal facts was such a good idea I just had to do it.”

And we are so thankful he did.

His signs, which he began posting on his Facebook and Instagram pages this week, span the animal kingdom to include many favorites. And the facts he came up with are far more informative, quirky and specific than what we’re used to seeing on those boring zoo placards.

There’s this little known (and fascinating) tidbit about baby ducklings. Brb, going to buy a bunch of tiny trombones.

There is something familiar in those eyes. And that whispy white hair. He could totally lead a revolution.

We have to change it now. Think of the barn owls.

Phillip, you heartless asshole.

They’re like teeny telemarketers. Just let it ring through to voicemail.

Um, yes. Penguins with monocles should definitely be a thing. So distinguished.

Yes, this is totally more fun that what I do at the zoo. Which is to say, more fun than telling my son to stop shouting “red butt monkeys” at every single exhibit and my daughter to stop lecturing us over how the animals should all be free and not in cages.

We hope Jeff continues to use his incredible talent for turning the mundane into the hilarious with more fun pranks very soon because us parents could certainly use a laugh. Until then, think of the barn owls.
