She was “Employee of the Month” and gave out free samples
Unconventional kid birthday party themes are kind of a thing these days. We saw the little boy who had his party at a Target store and the girl who obsessed so hard over CVS her mom threw her a red and white party for the ages. And now, we have a kiddo who’s all about a good deal.
That’s right — this little girl had a Costco-themed birthday party, and it’s everything.
Kimber Walker just turned five and instead of the typical five-year-old girl birthday party aesthetic of princesses and unicorns, she went for something a little more awesome. OK, a lot more awesome.
“She is obsessed with Costco,” says her mom, Niki Walker. She tells The Huffington Post that instead of trying to push her toward another theme, she rolled with it. “We served hotdogs and pizza, set up sample stations, printed dollars with her face on them, had Costco pizza and Kirkland ice cream. We also had a little shop set up, and everyone designed their own ‘membership cards’.”
Um, why weren’t we invited? This sounds ridiculously fun.
First of all, behold the samples. Because, Costco.
Every item was appropriately labeled for the shopper’s convenience.
No Costco party is complete without Kirkland’s pizza.
And the guest of honor was named Employee of the Month, complete with her own face on the currency.
Oh my god, we love this kid.
To mark the occasion, Kimber got a special cake. Five years of service is a pretty big milestone.
Niki says Kimber’s Costco party dreams were two years in the making, and we’re so glad her family made it happen. The local Winston-Salem Costco even made an employee badge just for her.
Before leaving, guests were treated to goodie bags — full of items purchased in bulk, naturally.
They even got to run through the check-out lane.
Guests at the party definitely enjoyed Niki and Kimber’s attention to detail and commitment to the theme. “They thought it was hilarious and quirky, which both describe my daughter,” Niki shares. “One of the little girls that came said that it was the best party that she had ever been to, including all of her own. “
By the end of the day, Kimber was one happy employee.
As far as the birthday girl’s reaction to the internet loving her Costco shindig, her mom says she’s already kind of used to being famous. “She loves it. Perez Hilton reposted a picture of her last year with his book, and she still says she’s famous.” And now that the world is praising her fun party, Niki says, “She loves all of the attention!”
We hope next year’s party is just as good of a deal.
